At BOSCO Uganda, we are thrilled to introduce our transformative initiative: the Feminist TechJoy Project, generously funded by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC). This groundbreaking project is a testament to our commitment to advancing gender equality, digital empowerment, and cyber resilience.
Why Feminist TechJoy?
In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, it is essential to ensure that women and marginalized communities have equal access to technology. The Feminist TechJoy Project aims to create a space where joy, empowerment, and resilience intersect. Let’s delve into the key components of this empowering endeavor:
1. Empowering Women Through Technology
Our project recognizes that technology can be a powerful force for change. By providing women with the necessary skills and knowledge, we empower them to navigate the digital world confidently. Whether it’s understanding online safety, mastering secure communication tools, or delving into ethical hacking, we believe that joy should accompany every step of the learning journey.
2. Building Cyber Resilience
Cyber threats are pervasive, affecting individuals, organizations, and entire communities. The Feminist TechJoy Project prioritizes cyber resilience—equipping participants with the tools to protect themselves online. From recognizing phishing attempts to securing personal data, our training programs foster a culture of digital self-defense.
3. Joy as a Catalyst for Change
Joy is often overlooked in discussions about technology and security. However, we firmly believe that joyful experiences enhance learning and resilience. Our workshops, webinars, and community events infuse joy into every interaction. Whether it’s celebrating a successful coding project or sharing digital art, we celebrate the small victories that build a resilient digital ecosystem.
Project Highlights
Here are some key highlights of the Feminist TechJoy Project:
Workshops and Training Sessions: Our trainers lead engaging workshops on topics such as basic security and online privacy. Participants gain practical skills while experiencing the joy of learning.
The ongoing training at Patongo Parish ICT Centre in Agago district becomes a hub of collaboration and support. Participants connect, share experiences, and find strength in unity. Together, we amplify each other’s voices.
Digital Art and Expression: We encourage participants to express themselves through digital art, poetry, and storytelling. Art becomes a form of resistance—a way to reclaim digital spaces and celebrate empowerment.
Intersectional Approach: Our project recognizes the diverse identities within the community. We address the unique challenges faced by women from different backgrounds.
