At Divine Mercy ICT Centre in Patongo, we successfully bridged the digital divide by empowering women with essential digital skills through our comprehensive digital literacy training program. This initiative was designed to equip women with the knowledge and tools they needed to navigate the digital world confidently.
Program Highlights:
- Computer Basics: Participants were introduced to essential computer operations, including navigating the desktop, managing files, and understanding operating systems.
- Software Proficiency: The training provided hands-on experience in widely used software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, focusing on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Internet Exploration: Participants learned how to use the internet effectively for research, communication, and accessing valuable resources.
- Email Communication: Women were taught how to create and manage email accounts, send professional emails, and stay organized.
- Cybersecurity Awareness: The program emphasized the importance of online safety, teaching participants how to protect personal information and recognize potential threats.
This training was tailored to meet the needs of women in our community, ensuring they gained the confidence and skills to harness the power of digital technology in their daily lives. By the end of the program, participants had not only enhanced their technical abilities but also increased their opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Additional Resources: As part of our commitment to extending digital literacy, we introduced participants to social media platforms like Twitter. They learned how to create and manage a Twitter account, follow relevant news, engage with community discussions, and use the platform as a tool for networking and professional development. This new skill set will help them stay informed, connected, and empowered in the digital world.
