BOSCO Uganda has embarked on an empowering journey, training 17 officers from the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) in essential digital skills. This initiative, a testament to our ongoing commitment to bridging the digital divide and enhancing technological literacy in Uganda, began with a warm welcome from our esteemed co-founders, Gus Zuehlke of USA and Rev Fr. Joseph Okumu of Paimol.
The training program, held at our Bardege ICT Centre, aims to equip the officers with vital knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity, computer basics, and software applications. These skills are crucial for modern military operations and personal development, ensuring that the UPDF can operate with greater efficiency and security in an increasingly digital world. The officers are deeply engaged in interactive sessions, hands-on exercises, and collaborative projects that provide a comprehensive learning experience.
Our ED Komakech Daniel highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “By empowering these officers with digital skills, we are not only enhancing their capabilities but also contributing to the broader national development agenda.” This sentiment reflects BOSCO Uganda’s dedication to fostering digital inclusion and education across all sectors of society.
The response from the UPDF officers has been overwhelmingly positive. They have expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to expand their digital knowledge, recognizing the significant impact these skills will have on their professional duties and personal growth. One officer remarked, “This training is an eye-opener. The knowledge we are gaining here is invaluable and will greatly enhance our operational effectiveness.”
As the training progresses, BOSCO Uganda remains committed to providing ongoing support and resources to ensure the officers can fully integrate their new skills into their daily routines. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote digital literacy and empowerment in Uganda, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive in the digital age.
