BOSCO Uganda, a leading organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide in rural and underserved communities, has once again demonstrated its commitment to empowering individuals with essential digital skills. Following the successful training of 16 Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldiers last year, BOSCO Uganda is again training an additional 40 UPDF soldiers in digital literacy.
This drive is part of BOSCO Uganda’s broader mission to equip communities, institutions, and organizations with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. The training program, which takes place for several weeks, covers essential digital skills such as computer basics, internet navigation, cybersecurity, and the use of digital tools for communication and productivity.
Why This Matters
In today’s ever evolving, technology driven world, digital literacy is no longer just a luxury but a need. For the UPDF, these skills are critical for enhancing operational efficiency, improving communication, and staying ahead in a rapidly evolving global landscape. By equipping soldiers with digital literacy, BOSCO Uganda is not only strengthening the capabilities of the UPDF but also contributing to national development and security.
What the Training Entailed
The training program is designed to be practical, ensuring that participants can immediately apply their new skills in real world scenarios. Topics covered included:
- Introduction to computers and operating systems
- Internet usage and online research
- Email communication and digital collaboration tools
- Cybersecurity best practices
- Basic troubleshooting and maintenance
A Word from Executive Director BOSCO Uganda
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the UPDF in advancing digital literacy,” said Daniel, Executive Director of BOSCO Uganda. “Last year’s training was a resounding success, and we are excited to see how this new cohort of soldiers will leverage their skills to make a positive impact. At BOSCO Uganda, we believe that access to digital tools and knowledge is a powerful catalyst for change, and we are proud to play a role in empowering Uganda’s defenders.”
Looking Ahead
BOSCO Uganda remains committed to expanding its digital literacy programs across the country. We are always willing to extend similar initiatives to other sectors, including education, Uganda Police, healthcare, and local government.
This latest achievement goes to show the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change. Together, BOSCO Uganda and the UPDF are paving the way for a more digitally inclusive future.
